One of the best parts of buying a home is decorating. You get to make the house your home. I like to look at the layout as a blank canvas and the possibilities are endless. Sure it gets frustrating when you can’t find the exact piece you have in mind. Sometimes you find the perfect piece but the price is too high and there doesn’t seem to be a coupon floating around. I’m probably one of the most frugal people out there so I’m always looking for a deal. Luckily, there’s online shopping for mid century modern home essentials.
The current status of the house is limbo. My husband is working on painting all the walls white because the entire house was gray. Don’t get me wrong, gray is one of my favorite colors but this gray makes the house feel like a cave.
Since the weather is anything but nice, it’s putting my yard work and window cleaning tasks aside for now. Since I’m really allergic to paint, that renders me useless in the painting process, which leaves my spare time in charge of finding the right materials – which trust me, I don’t mind at all.
The above mood board are some of my favorite items so far, reaching out to me saying “buy me buy me buy me!” Out of my favorites, we do own the following:
1- Modernica George Nelson bubble lamp. Stunning, timeless, and well made. With the two large windows in front of the new house, this fixture is going to look beautiful. It comes in different sizes which is helpful depending on the length or depth of your table.
3 – The Pyrex charm set was given to me as a gift from my parents. The moment I saw them, I fell in love. Since the Pyrex dishes are new, I don’t feel guilty using them. The funny thing is, I found a very similar vintage set that looked just like these in a thrift shop when we moved here.
9 – The World Market Westen table is being shipped to us now. With the love of our last World Market table, we have high hopes for this one. It has the mid century modern look and made out of real wood! This table is damn sexy and I keep checking for a tracking number like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
The rest of the items are sitting in wish lists. I’m really digging the teal color in the egg chair. Teal is my go-to color because it’s so classic yet calming. Oh and did you notice the toaster?
All I have to say is thank goodness for Pinterest. Follow me on Pinterest here for more mid century modern home essentials!
